1.) Sunflower seeds actually taste like nothing. It’s the shell that has the flavor. They should be packaged as “Barbecue Sunflower Seed Shells.” Or “Lightly Salted Sunflower…”
2.) When Sunflower seeds are dehulled with the mouth (which is the most common way of eating them) the face suddenly bares a strange resemblance to that of a crack addict.
3.) Dehulling them with your fingers is dumb. They’re not peanuts.
On another note:
4.) They do actually grow into sunflowers. Can you imagine beautiful sunflowers growing in the bellies of children?
Dedicated to the girl on the A train.

sunflowers in the bellies of babies!
Except only, now kids mash them up with pickled eggs… and I’m not sure what that flower would look like. :)

Actually the seeds do have a taste. The seeds taste like sweet cream butter. The shells only taste like whatever was put on them prior to roasting.
Also yes you can plant the roasted seeds and they will still grow. Please note however that if continue growing sunflowers. That each generation will get slightly bigger than the last.Last time I went to visit my grandmother. Her sunflowers were about 3 1/2 feet in diameter. She had been growing them for only 5 years.
