48 Hours for Burma

August 30th, 2008 · No Comments

Well, I know we would all love to shuck and jive all day everyday. But sometimes, we, and by we I mean, everyone, have to shine some light on dark situations. I wont start preachin’, I’ll just advertise.

*Save the Date*

*ON STAGE: 48 Hours for Burma* This event next month isn’t 48 hours, but
it
is two nights centered on raising money for the victims of the Burmese
cyclone back in May. A benefit concert, with performances by the Martha
Graham Dance Company, Battery Dance Company, CityDance Ensemble and
singer-songwriter Maya Azucena, opens the event, but get there early to
catch a panel discussion about Burma and the arts. The next day,
fundraising
dance classes, taught by members of Battery, Martha
Graham<http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/related/topic/Martha+Graham?tid

>and
other companies, will take place at the CityDance Center at
Strathmore.
Concert, $150. Sept. 6 at 7:45 p.m. at the Lansburgh Theatre (panel
discussion at 6:30). Visit http://www.foundationburma.org or
202-547-1122.
Dance workshops on Sept. 7, $25 per class or $100 for a day pass; free
for
concert ticket-holders. CityDance Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman
Lane,
North Bethesda. For information, visit http://www.citydance.net.

(There is a flyer too, but its just way too small.)
