A few days ago, I had the absolute honor and priveledge to perform at an event, put on by a group called, Making Noise. The event was held to raise funds, as well as to shed some light on the trafficking of little girls in Africa, as well as the rebuilding of schools in Sierra Leone after the civil war. I was asked to create a poetic adaptation of young lady named Saio’s story. She survived the war by living in the woods for two years, with other villagers. It was a really moving experience to retell her story, with my own feeling and emotion, spawned by a natural connectedness I formed with her and the story after having sat with it for three months. EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS ORGANIZATION! GET INVOLVED! THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN CHECKING THIS (REALLY COOL) WEBSITE! PEOPLE NEED YOUR HELP!
Okey , myself, and Leslie. Good people, doing great things.
Again, get involved (I know, I know. Enough with the preachin, already. But, really…).
Shout out to Myisha Cherry who also performed.
