So our good friend from back home in Maryland, Terrence Cunningham, came up to Brooklyn yesterday, to ROCK, at Solomon’s Porch. Oh, did I mention that he’s a musician, who ROCKS! Well he is, and he ROCKS! The cool part about it all, is that he didn’t bring his whole band. Instead he just brought his guitarist, Zach Cutler, and himself, with a special guest, his 73 Fender Rhodes organ. I know some of you may not know why this is important…but it is. Ask any musician. I know this cat, Terrence, and he never takes this thing out of his ROOM, let alone his house… or another STATE!! But for Brooklyn, exceptions were made. And oh what a show. The stripped down sound of just good music, with no bells and whistles, might just be where Terrence Cunningham needs to be. It doesn’t take away from the fact that he ROCKS, but I, we, just think it translates a little better…(had to be there).
The highlight was definitely, when a table full of older ladies, new fans, started screaming “Sing Lenny Williams!” But it was equally cool, when they told him, that he was good enough for them to spend 20 bucks on his CD. BUT HE DOESN’T HAVE ONE! GET IT TOGETHER TERRENCE!!!
Only someone who can sing really well, make a face like this!
Thanks to those who came out! Especially the sexy old ladies! (Wink Wink)
Note: He’s recording a live album here in August!
