In Food For Thought, a local restaurant and neighborhood epicenter, a young brother, Armon Bell, 10, walks up to us and asks if we’d like to buy one of his drawings.
Armon: Ya’ll wanna picture?
Reynolds (thinking he’s talking about taking photos): Naw, we good lil homie.
Griffin: Pictures you drew?
Armon: Yeah.
(Reynolds finally catches on to the “artist speak”)
Griffin: How much?
Armon: A dollar, but this one is two (holds up a bigger piece of paper)
(Reynolds smiles impressed by his hustle.)
Griffin: Yeah, let us see what you got man.
We look through his portfolio, and Griffin purchases this one. Awesome.
Armon, we’re proud of you.
Priceless.

Armon’ s picture is definitely dope….young hustla…I’m not only happy that he was actually promoting himself and selling his own work (which he clearly sees is valuable) but I’m glad he WASN’T selling candy like so many others….Good work!
