The Bridge is over, the Bridge is over, biddy bye bye!

Thursday, Griffin, Chris Bailey and I, ventured out to the Bridge Art Fair for a jammin good time! Well, maybe not jammin, though they did have a dj, spinning house music, and when awkward, introverted artists (hay, we’re awkward sometimes, but introverted…nah) hear house music, it seems like suddenly all the ecstatic alter-egos from galaxies beyond come shining through, with flailing limbs and tossed hair! That alone is an “art exhibit.”

The way it was set up this year, was basically haunted mansion style - one lonnnng hallway with secret rooms. In this case each “room” was a booth, from galleries that span the earth. At the top of the hallway, we were greeted by some amazing gallerists, and lots of really good art.

There was this awesome guy Jason (that’s right…) who was representing the Ark Galerie, which is located in INDONESIA!!! The artist he was showing, was dope. The artist’s name is Eko Nugroho. All of us were taken by his work. Awesome stuff. See for yourself.

Yeah…pretty sweet. (Thanks a bunch Jason for the free prints!)

More pics from the evening…

This was actually, sort of an installation piece. A sweet (the sweetest) woman, Sal Randolph (GlowLab), basically, gives away money! The only catch is you have to write in the moleskine who you plan on giving your free dollar to. But she doesn’t specify that it has to be charity (take that Oprah). I was so conflicted, because I felt like I should give it to someone who needs it, but I wanted to be honest. So I wrote that it’s going to the bodega for a beer, or a bag of chips. Hay, what can I say. A VERY interesting piece, and all those in NY, should check it out (ONE dollar people, don’t go snatch the whole stack. Sheesh.)

OH! Small blue hat, hair EVERYWHERE and silk polka-dot ascot, with the red slick back, make for quite the conversation starter!

A young lady had these on. We almost broke our necks. Anyone who is, or once was a sneakerhead, knows why this is so amazing. Lets all unite, and salivate together.

Chris Baily of Pure West outside his Lower East Side apartment. Notice the fried chicken joint to the left of his door, and the psychic reading place to the right. “In your future I see death, if you eat from that chicken joint. Now pay me 300 buckaroos!” Baily’s cool. All the time.

Griffin: “By golly, there’s a zombie following me home.”

Reynolds: (Thinking) “Stay very still. Maybe all the white folk wont recognize you.”

**There were tons of other great gallerists we met, but unfortunately we don’t have pics of their stuff. But I do want to shout out the boys of Redtruck Gallery Redtruck Gallery Redtruck Gallery! PLEASE CHECK THEM OUT!!! AMAZING WORK from New Orleans!

(Also, New Orleans isn’t doing so bad. They wanted me to pass that along.)

My wife tried to give away her dollar to a homeless lady passing by and she was very skeptical (i think becasue we offered it to her instead of a situation were she was asking for money) - we had to convince her it was real.

I just thought the artist should have stamped the dollars with an emblem to see if any of them ever recycled back to her.
